The presented work has been aimed to investigate the effects of
Cu-doping on the structural and morphologic properties of NaPO3
(sodium metaphosphate or sodium phosphate) glasses. Cu-containing NaPO3
glasses at different ratios were synthesized at 700 °C. The characterization
process of the as-synthesized glasses was performed using Fourier transform
infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy
(SEM). It was determined that the single phase of the as-produced samples was
the NaPO3 with the orthorhombic crystal structure. Furthermore, it
was observed that the Cu-addition caused significant variations in the amount
of crystallinity, crystallite size and lattice parameters of the as-produced
sodium phosphate glasses. It was determined that the morphology of the
as-produced sodium phosphate glasses was affected by Cu-doping.
