Siyah ve beyaz mersinde (Myrtus communis) meyve özelliklerinin ve yaprak uçucu yağ bileşiminin mevsimsel değişimi

Abstract

Mersin (Myrtus
communis
L.), Akdeniz bölgesinde
doğal olarak yetişen tıbbi ve aromatik bir bitkidir. Beyaz mersin meyvesi,
ülkemizde ticari olarak sofralık amaçlı yetiştirilmektedir. Siyah mersin
meyvesinin tüketimi daha az ve tarımsal özellikleri konusunda da çok az bilgi
mevcuttur. Son yıllarda, siyah renkli meyvelere yüksek antioksidan kapasiteleri
nedeniyle ilgi artmıştır. Ayrıca siyah mersin meyvesinin önemli bir hastalık ve
zararlısının olmayışı, bu meyvenin organik yetiştirilmesini de cazip
kılmaktadır. Mersin bitkisi yapraklarından ekstrakte edilen uçucu yağlar,
mersin yağı adıyla tıbbi ve aromatik amaçlı kullanılmaktadır Bu çalışmanın
amacı, siyah ve beyaz renkli mersinlerde; meyve tutumundan hasada kadar olan
meyve gelişim döneminde, yaprak ve meyvelerde meydana gelen değişimleri
incelemektir. Bu açıdan, Temmuz-Kasım ayları arasındaki dönemde; meyvelerdeki
fiziksel ve kimyasal değişimler ile yapraklardaki uçucu yağ bileşenlerindeki
değişiklikler saptanmıştır. Bu dönemde, mersin tiplerine göre yaprak eni
9.84-13.30 mm; yaprak boyu 25.84-31.51 mm arasında değişmiştir. Ortalama meyve
ağırlığı (mg meyve-1); Hambeles tipinde 605.68; Yakup tipinde
ise 355.94 olarak saptanmıştır. Mersin bitkisi yapraklarında en yüksek uçucu
bileşenler α-pinene (% 40.67) ve 1,8- cineole (% 38.78) olarak tespit
edilmiştir.

Seasonal variation of fruit traits and leaf essential oil compositions in black and white myrtle (Myrtus communis)

Abstract



Myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) is a medical and aromatic
plant naturally grown in Mediterranean region. White myrtle with greater berry
fruits are commercially grown for fresh consumption in Turkey but there is very
little information on agrotechnological traits of black myrtle. Nowadays, there
is a great interest for dark coloured fruits because of higher antioxidant
capacities. In addition, black myrtle has very little pest and disease
problems, therefore it is very suitable for organic growing. Essential oils
extracted from leaves are known myrtle oils and used for medical and aromatic
purposes. The main objective of this study was to investigate variations in
fruit and leaf traits of white and black myrtles between fruit set and harvest
time. Variations were recorded in physical and chemical parameters of myrtle
berries and essential oil compounds of myrtle leaves during berry growth from
July to December. Leaf dimensions ranged from 9.84 mm to 1.30 mm for leaf wide
and from 25.84 mm to 31.51 mm for leaf length depending on myrtle genotypes
during mentioned period. Average fruit weights (mg fruit-1)
were measured as 605.68 in Hambeles and 355.94 in Yakup types. Main essential
oil compounds in myrtle leaves were α-pinene (40.67 %) and 1,8- cineole
(37.78 %).
