Potential use of succulents grown on Kozan castle rocks in vertical gardens

Year 2017, Volume: 30 Issue: 1, 7 - 13, 04.04.2017

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine growth and development of Rosularia
libanotica
(Labill.)
Muirhead and Sedum sediforme (Jacq.) Pau
in vertical garden settings considering
their growing conditions under shallow soils and unfavourable environments
(sunny, shady, windy, etc). In addition, the ability of these species to
regenerate themselves has been put forward and suggestions have been made for
their use in vertical gardens, which can be created especially in urban areas
against climate change. Plants collected from Kozan castle were planted into
benches, within the greenhouse, and then transplanted into vertical gardens
prepared in the open area and in the green house. Experimental design was
complete randomized with 3 replications. Each replication included 24 each of R. libanotica and Sedum compressum of 24 plants and 48 of S. sediforme. In addition to vertical garden, propagation of R. libanotica and S. compressum species in
3 different growing media; peat, volcanic ash and equal mixture of them were
studied. Result showed that R. libanotica and S. sediforme were found suitable for use in vertical gardens based
on their rapid establishment and growth, vertical and horizontal coverage
ability.

Kozan kalesinde kayalıklarda yetişen sukkulentlerin dikey bahçelerde kullanım olanakları

Year 2017, Volume: 30 Issue: 1, 7 - 13, 04.04.2017

Abstract

Çalışmada, Kozan
kalesinde kayalıklarda bulunan Rosularia libanotica (Labill.) Muirhead ve Sedum sediforme (Jacq.)
Pau
libanotica
ve S. sediforme
türlerinin adaptasyon yeteneğinin fazla olması, hızlı büyümesi ve dikey-yatay
yönde alanı kapatma özelliğinden dolayı dikey bahçelerde kullanımı uygun
bulunmuştur.
