Lisans eğitimi bireyin
hayatında önemli geçiş dönemlerinden birini oluşturan, hayatı boyunca icra
edeceği mesleği öğrendiği, mesleğe ve hayata dair bir takım kültürel değerleri
kazandığı bir süreçtir. Bu süreç bireye mesleki beceriler kazandırmasının yanı sıra
kültürel gelişiminde de önemli bir rol oynar ve bireyin üniversite eğitimine
başladığında sahip olduğu kültürel özelliklerinde farklılıklar yaratabilir. Bu
çalışmanın amacı da inşaat mühendisliği eğitiminin öğrencilerin kültürel
boyutları üzerindeki etkilerini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla Hofstede’in Kültürel
Boyutları (VSM08)’na dayandırılan bir anket çalışması, Türkiye’nin iki farklı
üniversitesinin inşaat mühendisliği bölümlerinde öğrenim gören birinci ve
dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerine uygulanmış, dört yıllık eğitim sürecinin
öğrencilerin kültürel boyutları üzerindeki etkileri
incelenmiştir.
Undergraduate education is a process which constitutes one of the most
important transition period in the life of individuals, learned the profession
he/she will perform throughout life, gained some cultural values related to
profession and life. This process plays an important role in cultural
development as well as gain vocational skills for individual and can make
differences in the cultural characteristic of individual when he/she starts to
university education. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of
civil engineering education on students’ cultural dimension. With this purpose,
a survey based on Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions (VSM 08) was applied to the
first and fourth grade student of civil engineering from two different
university in Turkey, the effect of four-year education process on students’
cultural dimension was investigated.
