Guıdelınes For Contrıbutors

(KSU J. Nat. Sci.) accepts original research articles and reviews in the field of Agriculture, Forestry and Biology and publishes in Turkish or English and abstracts in both languages are necessary. The journal is peer-reviewed and published three-monthly by the Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University.

Papers are accepted for publication that they have not been published and are not going to be considered for publication elsewhere. Authors should certify that neither the manuscript nor its main contents have already been published or submitted for publication in another journal. All manuscripts should be accompanied by the Copyright Release Form, which can be found online in journal’s web site. This form should be completed and signed by all co-authors indicating their consent to its publication. The corresponding author is responsible for obtaining the signatures of coauthors.

Corresponding author

The corresponding author should be declared with his/her name, full postal address, e-mail, and fax and telephone numbers when submitting the manuscript in Copyright Form.

Manuscript structure

Manuscripts should be typewritten on one side of paper about 210 x 300 mm (A4), double-spaced with margins of at least 2.5 cm at the top, bottom and sides. Article should be written using Microsoft Word for Windows in format as Times New Roman font with font size of 12 and justified in both side of the page. The lines should be continuously numbered in all document. The total length of the manuscript should not exceed 25 pages including references excluding tables and figures. All copies of the manuscript should have page numbers (bottom and center).

The layout of the article written in English should be presented as follows: title of the article, the full forename and surname of each author, the department and institution of authors, abstract (not more than 200 words), keywords (five keywords) in English; title, abstract and keywords in Turkish, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgements (if necessary), references and appendix (if necessary).

Title of the article should be bold, centered, font size 12 pt and in Title Case format. Under the title, full names of authors should be typed in Title Case format (comma between authors). Do not give authors’ title, positions or degrees.

A short running title (not more than 100 characters including spaces) should be given at the first page. This title will be used as header at the top of the odd pages.

A concise abstract is required. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions. An abstract must be able to stand alone and references should be avoided. Uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but if essential they must be defined at their first mention in the abstract itself. The abstract should not be longer than 400 words.

Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 6 keywords, using American spelling and avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, "and", "of"). Be sparing with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.
Contributors who are not native Turkish speakers may submit their manuscripts with a title, an abstract and the keywords written in English only. Contributors who are not native English speak
ers are strongly advised to ensure that a colleague fluent in the English language has reviewed their manuscript if none of the authors is so. It is strongly recommended that the text be run through computer spelling and grammar programs.

Section headings should not be numbered but bold and in “Title Case” format. Low-level headings should be bold, italic and “Title Case” format. Second low-level headings should be italic only.

Tables and Figures

All illustrations (photographs, drawings, graphs, etc.) except tables must be labelled "Figure". Tables and figures should not appear in the text and are given in a separate sheet for each table and figure and be in black and white form. All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively. The numbering of the tables must not be combined with that of the figures. Do not use vertical lines and few horizontal lines. Do not use boldface in the table body and title. Font size in Tables is 11 pt and single space but 9 for footnote of tables.

References in the text should be restricted to those with a direct bearing upon the findings and should be given in name and year base as Kare and Ficken (1963) or (Kare and Ficken, 1963). Authors name should be in “Title Case” format. A reference by three or more authors should be identified in the text only by the first author followed by et al. and the date. Where several references are quoted consecutively in the text the order should be chronological, or, within a year, alphabetical by first author or, if necessary, by first and second author(s). Where references are made to several papers by the same authors in the same year, the date should be followed by a, b, c, etc.

References should be listed alphabetically by author and in chronological order for each author at the end of the manuscript. In the reference list journal titles should be cited in full, not bold while for books and monographs the place of publication should precede the publisher's name. Authors are wholly responsible for the accuracy of the references and information given in the article.

Examples are given below of the layout and punctuation to be used in the references:
