Prevalence of Rice White Tip Nematode (<em>Aphelenchoides besseyi</em> Christie, 1942) in rice production areas in Çankırı and Çorum provinces

Öz

Rice white tip nematode (Aphelenchoides besseyi Christie, 1942) is one of the important pests, causing problem in the rice production areas. A. besseyi is a seed-borne and important ectoparasite nematode. Since A. besseyi can stay alive for 2-3 years in the seed stored under dry conditions, it can be spreaded via infected seeds to clean fields.

Prevalence of A. besseyi in Çankırı and Çorum provinces was determined in this study. In order to achieve this aim, seed samples collected from fields and storages were analyzed in 2010. Infection rate of samples obtained from Çankırı and Çorum provinces were 8.82% and 28.27% respectively. When compared to previous studies, our findings showed that prevalence of nematode did not change in Çankırı but increased twice in Çorum.

Öz

Çeltik beyaz uç nematodu (Aphelenchoides besseyi Christie,1942)çeltik üretim alanlarında sorun olan önemli zararlılardan birisidir. A. besseyi tohum kaynaklı ektoparazit bir nematoddur. Kuru şartlarda tanede 2-3 yıl canlı kalabildiğinden bulaşık tohumlar temiz alanlara yayılabilir.

Bu çalışmada Aphelenchoides besseyi'nin Çankırı ve Çorum illerindeki yaygınlık durumunu belirlenmiştir. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek için 2010 yılında hasat sonrası tarla ve depolardan toplanan çeltik tohum örnekleri analiz edilmiştir. Çankırı ve Çorum illerinden alınan örneklerdeki bulaşıklık oranları sırasıyla %8.82 ve %28.27 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Önceki çalışmalarla mukayese edildiğinde Çankırı ilindeki yaygınlığın yaklaşık olarak aynı kaldığı, Çorum ilinde ise iki kat kadar artış olduğu belirlenmiştir.
