Dairy farms in Turkey have generally small-scale and there is a strong relationship between compliance with the food safety criteria and farm scale. Therefore, agricultural organization can make important contributions to ensuring food safety in the dairy sector. The aim of this study was to determine the level of compliance with food safety criteria in the dairy farms which are members of Cattle Breeders Association (CBA) in Menemen District which is one of the milk production regions of İzmir. The data of the study were obtained from the dairy farms through face-to-face surveys. Data were analyzed using by one-way ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis Test. A 5-point Likert Scale was used to determine the level of compliance with food safety criteria. The results of the research indicated that the food safety knowledge level of the farmers was low and the compliance of the small scale farms with the food safety criteria was not sufficient. It is recommended that CBA and other agricultural organizations in the region should take more active role in informing producers about food safety criteria and practices.
