Abstract

Sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor var. saccharatum (L.) Mohlenbr.) is a high yield forage plant as silage and hay that can be grown for silage and hay production in the Mediterranean region under adverse conditions. In this study, it was aimed to develop a sorghum specific near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy calibration by using 380 samples consisting of different sorghum lines and varieties. The calibrations performed over the dry matter, crude protein, acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and crude ash parameters of mean laboratory values, mean NIR predicted values and R2 were 91.13, 91.62, 0.662; 5.08, 5.17, 0.937; 30.28, 30.56, 0.871; 46.77, 47.03, 0.918; 5.92, 5.86, 0.662, respectively. It is possible to predict the feed quality parameters of sweet sorghum with the calibration model obtained in the NIR spectroscopy in terms of the characteristics dealt with by the data obtained, and it will be possible to determine these characteristics in future breeding studies for sweet sorghum with the prediction models developed in this study.

Abstract

Tatlı sorgum (Sorghum bicolor var. saccharatum (L.) Mohlenbr.) Akdeniz bölgesinde su sıkıntısı yaşanan ve marjinal alanlarda dahi verim potansiyeli yüksek olan, silaj ve kuru ot üretimi amacı ile yetiştirilebilen verimli bir yem bitkisidir. Bu çalışmada, farklı sorgum hat ve çeşitlerinden oluşan 380 örneğin kullanılmasıyla sorguma özel yakın kızılötesi (NIR) spektroskopisi kalibrasyonu geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Kuru madde, ham protein, asit deterjan lif (ADF), nötr deterjan lif (NDF) ve ham kül parametrelerinin üzerinden yapılan kalibrasyonda ortalama laboratuvar değerleri, ortalama NIR tahmini değerleri ve determinasyon katsayısı (R2) sırasıyla 91.13, 91.62,0.662; 5.08, 5.17, 0.937; 30.28, 30.56, 0.871; 46.77, 47.03, 0.918; 5.92, 5.86, 0.662 olarak belirlenmiştir. Geliştirilen NIR kalibrasyon modelinin tatlı sorgumun yem kalite parametrelerinin belirlenmesi ve ileride yürütülecek ıslah çalışmalarında kullanılması mümkün olabilecektir.
