Animal Health, Veterinarian Health Services and Expectation and Satisfaction of Cattle Breeders in Cattle Enterprises: A Sample of Narman County of Erzurum Province

This study was carried out to investigate animal health, veterinary health service, expectation and satisfaction of the cattle breeders in the cattle enterprises in Narman County of Erzurum Province. For this purpose, data were obtained from 208 cattle enterprises in Narman County via face to face survey study with owners of the enterprises, and the data were analyzed. While 59.1 % of the cattle breeders in the county vaccinated their pregnant cows with septicemia vaccine, 63.9 % of them used calf septicemia serum for new born calves. It was found out that 26.6 % of the breeders performed umbilical cord care after birth,  the most faced problem by the cattle breeders was foot and toe problem with 36.4 %. It was indicated that percentage of the enterprises receiving regular veterinary service was 7.7 % and the services were mostly received from private veterinarians. Furthermore 68.3 % of the cattle breeders were satisfied from cattle raising and cattle farming was main source of income of the 61.5 % of them. The most important problems in the enterprises were diseases (25.7 %) and high feed prices (22.6 %). It was also indicated that 19.9 % of the enterprises used agricultural credits and 53.7 % of them obtained the credit from banks. It was concluded that animal health and veterinary services have to be provided effectively and regularly. In addition, it would be useful for Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock to provide supports to the breeder in this subject

Bu çalışma, Erzurum ili Narman İlçesi'ndeki sığırcılık işletmelerinin hayvan sağlığı, veteriner sağlık hizmetleri ve yetiştirici memnuniyeti ve beklentilerini araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bunun için, Narman ilçesinde bulunan 208 sığırcılık işletmesinde işletme sahipleriyle yüz yüze yapılan anket çalışması sonucu veriler elde edilmiş ve elde edilen veriler analize tabi tutulmuştur. İlçedeki sığır yetiştiricilerinin % 59.1’i gebe ineklere septisemi aşısını yaptırırken, % 63.9‘u yeni doğan buzağılara septisemi serumu yaptırmaktadır. Yetiştiricilerin  % 26.6’ı da doğum sonrası buzağılara göbek bakımı yaptırmaktadır, hayvanlarda en sık karşılaşılan sağlık problemlerinin başında % 36.4 ile ayak-tırnak problemlerinin geldiği tespit edilmiştir. Düzenli olarak veteriner hekimlik hizmetinden yararlanan işletmelerin oranı % 7.7 olup, bu hizmetin % 71.7’si serbest veteriner hekimlerden alınmıştır. Ayrıca işletmecilerin % 68.3’ünün sığır yetiştiriciliğinden memnun olduğu ve işletmecilerin  % 61.5’inin hayvancılığı geçimini sağlamak için yaptığı belirlenmiştir. İşletmelerin en önemli problemleri hastalık (% 25.7) ve yüksek yem fiyatlarıdır (% 22.6). İşletmelerin % 19.9’unun tarımsal kredi kullandığı ve tarımsal kredi kullanan işletmelerin % 53.7’sinin bu kredileri bankalardan aldıkları ifade edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak hayvan sağlığı ve veteriner hekimlik hizmetleri düzenli olarak sağlanmalıdır. Bunun yanında Gıda, Tarım ve Hayvancılık Bakanlığının bu konuda yetiştiricilere destek olmasının faydalı olabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.
