Determination of Population Development, Density and Infection Rate of Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann, 1824) (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Orchards of Iğdır Province

This study was carried out by the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann, 1824) (Diptera: Tephritidae)) was carried out in apple, pear, peach and nectarine orchards in the villages of Iğdır Province Central district in 2021 in order to determine the population development and damage rate of the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann, 1824) (Diptera: Tephritidae)). The population of the pest was followed by using delta trap and delta trap + McPhail type (Decis Trap) traps containing pheromone and attractant in an orchard in Bayraktutan, Çalpala, Kuzugüden and Küllük villages, representing the region. Traps placed in the gardens are placed at a height of 1.5 – 2 m from the ground, on the outward facing branches of the trees, in the south-south east direction. Counting of adults caught in the traps was done once a week between 5 September 2021 and 21 November 2021. The damage rate on fruits was determined by examining 50 randomly selected pear, apple, peach or nectarine fruits from the orchards every two weeks from the date the adults started to appear in the traps. The highest level of Mediterranean fruit fly adult population was recorded on 24 October 2021. The first adults were seen on September 5th. While the highest density per trap was reached with 200 adults/week on October, it was determined that the second highest population density was reached with 73 adults/week on 14 November. According to the fruit gardens, the highest damage rate is the fruit type, 17.6% of nectar in the Bayraktutan location, 12% of peaches in the Çalpala location, 8.4% in the Kuzugüden location, 18.4% peach in the Küllük location.

Bu çalışma, Akdeniz meyvesineği (Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann, 1824) (Diptera: Tephritidae))’nin ergin popülasyon gelişimi ve kültür bitkilerindeki zarar oranını belirlemek amacıyla 2021 yılında Iğdır ili Merkez ilçeye bağlı köylerde elma, armut, şeftali ve nektarin bahçelerinde yürütülmüştür. Zararlının popülasyonu bölgeyi temsilen Bayraktutan, Çalpala, Kuzugüden ve Küllük köylerinde birer meyve bahçesinde feromon ihtiva eden delta tuzak + McPhail tipi tuzaklar kullanılarak takip edilmiştir. Bahçelere yerleştirilen tuzaklar yerden 1.5 – 2.0 m yükseklikte ağaçların dışa bakan dallarının güney ve güney doğu yönüne yerleştirilmiştir. Tuzaklarda yakalanan erginlerin sayımı 5 Eylül 2021 ile 21 Kasım 2021 tarihleri arasında haftada bir kez yapılmıştır. Meyvelerdeki zarar oranı erginlerin tuzaklarda görülmeye başladığı tarihten itibaren iki haftada bir bahçelerden rastgele seçilen 50 armut, elma, şeftali veya nektarin meyveleri incelenerek belirlenmiştir. Akdeniz meyve sineği ergin popülasyonunun en yüksek seviyesi 24 Ekim 2021 tarihinde kayıt edilmiştir. İlk erginler 5 Eylül tarihinde görülmüştür. Zararlı popülasyonu 24 Ekim tarihinde tuzak başına en fazla yoğunluğa 200 ergin/hafta ile ulaşırken, 14 Kasım tarihinde 73 ergin/hafta ile ikinci en yüksek popülasyon yoğunluğuna ulaşıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Meyve bahçelerine göre en yüksek hasar oranı olan meyve türü, Bayraktutan lokasyonunda nektarin %17.6, Çalpala lokasyonunda şeftali %12, Kuzuguden lokasyonunda %8.4, Küllük lokasyonunda şeftali %18.4 olarak belirlenmiştir.
