Change of Salinity and Sodicity Criteria of Saline-Sodic Helvacı Series Soils
Abstract
This study was performed in a covered area in Çukurova University in 2010-2011 in order not to be affected by rainfall conditions. Saline-sodic Helvacı series soils were placed in large tanks and gypsum requirement (GR) and GR+0.5GR (13 and 20 kg.m-2) gypsum were applied by mixing into upper 10 cm and the whole soil profile. Drip and intermittent ponding irrigation techniques were used as leaching methods. The study was planned according to strip-strip plot design. The effects of different amounts of gypsum, different applications and irrigation methods on EC, pH, sodium adsorption rate (SAR) and changeable sodium percentage (ESP) were investigated in the study. According to the results of the study: ESP reduction in the whole soil profile; it has been found that mixing 20 kg.m-2 gypsum into the whole soil profile and leaching by intermittent ponding irrigation were more effective than the other treatment combinations at 0.95 confidence level.
