An Ethnobotanical Field Survey in the Kadınhanı District of Konya in Turkey

Abstract

The Kadınhanı district (Konya) is located in the Centeral Anatolia of Turkey. The objective of this study was to record the traditional knowledge of wild edible plants used by indigenous people in Kadınhanı, where no ethnobotanical studies have been conducted previously. This study was carried out in Kadınhanı district in April 2009-October 2011 to document the traditional knowledge of wild edible plants. Overall, 153 people who live or have lived in 4 towns, 37 villages and 9 neighborhoods were interviewed. Among the plants in the research area, it was determined that 108 species belonging to 39 families were used for food (75 uses), treatment (56 uses), feed (22 uses), materials (13 uses), ornaments (2 uses), fuel (9 uses) and for various purposes (2 uses) were used.
