Ahlat (Pyrus elaeagnifolia), a crop with high sugar content, increases the interest of warehouse pests and insects. Edible films and coatings such as chitosan are preferred to preserve food spoilage and shelf life. For this purpose, Ahlat (wild pear) slices were covered with chitosan (0.2-2%; KA) and Drosophila melanogaster adults were fed with these wild pears for 30 days. Texture analysis was made in adults and wild pears. Nutrition with increasing rates of KA were determined to cause an increase in skin stiffness of adults. It is observed that the hardness decreases with the increase of the coating rate in Ahlat, where only edible coating is applied, and the hardness increases in wild pears that feed insects. Feeding with 2% KA is determined as a method that creates stiffness in the insect and prevents the formation of eggs.
