Production Profiles of Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamase of Clinic Isolates and Determination of Cell Components with FTIR

Abstract

In this research, the identification of cell components by FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared) and ESBL production of Enterobacteriaceae strains isolated from inpatients in Kilis state hospital were studied. Cell components of isolates were detected by using FTIR spectroscopy (4000-400 cm-1). ESBL production of strains was investigated with the cefepime-clavulanic acid, cefotetan-cloxacillin, cefotaxime-clavulanic acid and ceftazidime-clavulanic acid E-strip. According to the E-strip results, it can be stated that only five isolates of Enteric strain were able to produce ESBL. Cefotetan/cefotetan+cloxacillin ratio was determined to be ≥8 µg/mL for Salmonella spp. This ratio was indicated that Salmonella spp. produced C group beta lactamase in Ambler classificataion. Our FTIR analysis revealed that FTIR spectroscopy can be routinely used in the investigation of cell components although it is an unsuccessful method for diagnosis of closely-related species.
